About the Programme

Looking to develop confidence and a strong foundation in accounting to improve your chances of completing our PGDA/CTA on your first attempt?

The Bridging programme offers a pathway to Milpark’s SAICA-accredited PGDip (Accounting) for students who do not yet meet the selection requirements for the PGDip (Accounting).

The Bridging programme is designed to:

  • enhance students’ employability and entrepreneurial ability;
  • strengthen, deepen and synthesise students’ knowledge of accounting disciplines; and
  • enables students for a career in professional accounting and/or Chartered Accountancy.

What We Offer

  • Flexible learning that fits around your work and life.
  • A structured weekly journey with easy-to-follow schedules.
  • Lecturers available for guidance during the day and after hours.
  • An engaging and supportive community walking the learning journey with you.
  • Choice to write assessments online or at one of our many venues across South Africa and Namibia.

Programme Structure

The programme has four compulsory modules:

  • Financial Reporting
  • Taxation
  • Management Accounting & Finance
  • Corporate Governance & Auditing

To obtain entrance into our SAICA-accredited PGDA/CTA, all four modules need to be passed in a rolling three-year period.

Milpark Education’s Bridging Course (Short Course Programme in Advanced Accounting) is a six-month programme with an option to complete it over one year on a half-load.

This programme acts as a bridging course between degree and postgraduate studies, preparing students for selection onto a SAICA-accredited PGDip (Accounting), from which students can progress to SAICA’s first qualifying examination in partial completion of qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.

A full workload means:

  • Committing to a consistent 40 hours of study each week.
  • Registering and completing all four modules in six months.
  • Paying for all four modules at the start of the programme, or through a payment agreement.

If you can’t dedicate 40 hours per week for the full-load, there is the option to complete the programme over one year on a half-load as follows:

  • You’ll register for two modules in each half of the year.
  • You can choose the order in which you complete the modules.
  • You pay for two modules in each six-month period. This spreads the full cost over one year.

Where applications exceed the programme’s capacity, selection will be considered based on the following criteria:

  • Number of accounting modules attempted and completed during the relevant undergraduate degree.  This includes Financial Reporting/Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Management, Taxation and Auditing.
  • Final marks achieved in the accounting modules in the relevant undergraduate qualification.
  • Time taken to complete the undergraduate qualification.
  • Academic inactivity in accounting-related studies.

  • A series of bite-size videos covering all key concepts.
  • Quizzes to test your knowledge.
  • Practice questions and past tests and exams with comprehensive feedback videos.
  • Comprehensive and flexible academic and non-academic (psychosocial) support.
  • One-on-one live online consultations with lecturers.
  • Weekly live online group discussion groups for each subject.
  • Mentorship from lecturers and past students.

An appropriate BCom degree, diploma, or equivalent NQF level 7 qualification, including at a minimum, the study of Financial Accounting/ Reporting, aimed at preparing students to be Chartered Accountants, up to NQF level 6.

Minimum Admission Requirements

Contact Us

For a qualification to be considered “appropriate”, it would usually have been obtained from a SAICA-accredited institution. If the undergraduate qualification is not from a SAICA-accredited institution, the applicant would need to demonstrate that their undergraduate qualification is aligned with SAICA’s competency framework.

Limited capacity

Meeting the minimum admission criteria does not guarantee automatic acceptance, as only a limited number of students are enrolled per year. The institution will ensure that the number of students selected for the programme does not exceed the capacity for offering excellent quality education.

Where applications exceed the programme’s capacity, selection criteria will be considered.  Please refer to the Programme Structure for more detail.
