For students aspiring to enrol in our Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree but didn't meet the minimum Mathematics requirement in their Senior Certificate(SC) or National Senior Certificate(NSC), Milpark Education's Bridging Course is here to help. This course will strengthen your mathematical skills and ensure you meet the necessary admission criteria to begin your BCom journey.

About the Programme

This qualification is designed for students who achieved a bachelor's pass in their SC or NSC examination, but did not meet the minimum requirement for Mathematics to enable them to enrol for the BCom degree. 

The Bridging Course is designed to improve the mathematical abilities of students intending to enrol for the BCom programme, and runs across 2 or 3 cycles, only on the Distance Learning Online study mode. 

A combination of foundation skills derived from the compulsory modules and core skills built in the different cycles will ensure that students adapt effectively in the full BCom programme.

  • Introduction to Business Management (Optional) 

Applicants require a National Senior Certificate (please take note of the applicable minimums below).

Candidates who matriculated in 2007 or earlier with a Senior Certificate

  • Require a minimum of 24 points on the Milpark points system.
  • Require a rating of 4 or higher in any two of the following subjects: Economics, Business Economics, Accounting, Physical Science or Physics/Chemistry, Natural Science or Biology.
  • Candidates who do not meet the 24-point admission criterion, may apply to Universities South Africa (USAF), for mature age exemption (https://mb.usaf.ac.za/).

Candidates who matriculated in 2008 or later with a National Senior Certificate

  • Require a minimum of 50% in four NSC 20-credit subjects, including English.
  • Require minimum mark of 50% or higher in any two of the following subjects: Economics, Business Economics, Accounting, Physical Science or Physics/ Chemistry, Natural Science or Biology.
